Orford Park gets the go ahead!
The £30m Orford Park Project reached another milestone on 17 September 2009  when the council's development control committee granted outline planning approval to the scheme.

The Orford Park Project is an exciting regeneration initiative, which will provide sport, health and community facilities on a former landfill site between Winwick Road and Orford Park. The project is led by Warrington Borough Council in partnership with TONP (The Orford Neighbourhood Project), Warrington Collegiate, Warrington Wolves, William Beamont High School, Warrington Disability Partnership, Network Warrington and the Warrington PCT.

The project, driven by innovative partnerships between the public, private and voluntary sectors, unites the provision of leisure, education, health and community services for Warrington, and will be delivered in a high profile location adjacent to the A49, providing a highly visible, powerful message to the local community and visitors alike of the identity, pride, and progressive development of Warrington.

OUR VISION
‘To regenerate the Orford Park area using sport, leisure, health, education and lifelong learning,to increase the health, well-being and empowerment of the local population’.

This project involves the physical, social and economic regeneration of Orford, which will create lasting tangible benefits to a population falling within the top 7% most deprived areas nationwide, which is designated as a Health Improvement Zone with double the national unemployment rate.

The area will be transformed from a former landfill site into valuable green space incorporating a series of greenways and cycleways and providing new community sport and health facilities.
